Man Utd news: ‘He will learn a lot from Jose Mourinho’ - United star told to STAY
MANCHESTER UNITED star Marcus Rashford should stay at Old Trafford because he will learn a lot from manager Jose Mourinho.
That is according to former West Ham, Norwich and England striker Dean Ashton.
Marcus Rashford has been linked with a move away from Manchester United in the last 24 hours.
Reports claim European giants Juventus and Real Madrid are interested in the 21-year-old England international.
United boss Mourinho has often been criticised for not giving Rashford enough game time, especially as a central striker.
He is undoubtedly going to learn a lot from Jose Mourinho because he is a top-quality coach
But Ashton claims Rashford has not deserved a regular spot in the United team with his performances.
He reckons the academy graduate should stay where he is and take his opportunities when he is given them.
And Ashton thinks Mourinho can have a big influence on Rashford reaching his potential.
“He has to affect the game, whether that be with deliveries, whether that be linking up with the forward, whether that be running in behind,” Ashton said on talkSPORT.
“I just don’t feel as if he has been that good to earn the spot and be a regular for Manchester United yet.
“But that’s not a huge problem, he’s been playing for England and playing really well.
“It looks like he’s still enjoying his football, he is undoubtedly going to learn a lot from Jose Mourinho because he is a top-quality coach.
“So I wouldn’t be worried if I was him, I wouldn’t be looking elsewhere, certainly not yet anyway.
“I’d be more concentrated on ‘when I get my chance that I play well enough to own the spot that I want to play in’.
“If he wants to play centre-forward, he has to be so good you can’t drop him.”
Rashford has scored just twice for United this season, one less than he has managed for England since the World Cup.
