Liverpool news: When Trent Alexander-Arnold will ‘overtake’ Kyle Walker as best right-back
LIVERPOOL defender Trent Alexander-Arnold will overtake Manchester City’s Kyle Walker as England’s best right-back over the next couple of years.
That is the opinion of former England and Sunderland full-back Michael Gray.
Alexander-Arnold has become Liverpool’s first-choice right-back in the last 12 months.
The 20-year-old’s form last season led to a call-up to the senior England side, where he made one appearance at the World Cup in the summer.

Over the next couple of years Trent Alexander-Arnold is going to catch him up and he’s going to overtake him
Tottenham’s Kieran Trippier was the preferred right wing-back in Russia but a change in formation from Gareth Southgate has seen a return to a traditional four at the back.
Alexander-Arnold started the 3-0 friendly win over USA on Thursday but dropped to the bench for the Nations League clash against Croatia on Sunday, with Manchester City's Walker starting in his place.
talkSPORT host Adrian Durham on Friday claimed Alexander-Arnold has already proven to be better than both Walker and Trippier.
“Kyle Walker’s quicker,” Durham said.
“But I’d say all-round, all the attributes he needs to be an attacking right-back in this England side, in the modern game, I think Trent Alexander-Arnold is the best we’ve got.”
However, Gray disagreed with Durham and claimed Walker is still ahead of Alexander-Arnold, but only for the time being.
But he does put the Liverpool's star ahead of Trippier, who missed the USA and Croatia matches due to injury.
“I’ve got to disagree a little bit,” Gray replied.
“I think Kyle Walker (is the best).
“It might surprise a few people that Trippier’s actually third on my list.
“Kyle Walker’s just in front, just because he’s got that experience at the moment.
“Over the next couple of years Trent Alexander-Arnold is going to catch him up and he’s going to overtake him.”
