Paul Pogba 'the star of the show' in Juventus win says Mata
The Red Devils registered a 2-1 triumph over the Italian champions last night in their fourth European game of the season.
A sumptuous free kick from Juan Mata cancelled out a wonder strike from Cristiano Ronaldo before a late own goal from Alex Sandro handed United all three points.
Victory over the Serie A giants saw Jose Mourinho’s troops take a giants step towards qualifying for the last 16 of Europe’s premier club competition.
Pogba reflected on the monumental result on Instagram a few hours after the final whistle and thanked the travelling United fans for their ‘amazing support.’
“Very important 3 points .. and amazing support from the fans,” the France international wrote.
Yesterday’s match was the first time Pogba returned to the Allianz Stadium since leaving Juve to return to Manchester.
The 25-year-old received a warm welcome from the fans who used to adore him, a reception he greatly appreciated.
He added: “Welcome was amazing very emotional thank you.”

After the match, the Frenchman was asked about the possibility of returning to Turin before he calls time on his career.

“The reaction of the fans really moved me, as I missed them and Italian football.
“It was great to be back in this stadium, where I started out and won big trophies.”
Last night’s Italian Job was United’s third win on the spin, the previous two coming against Newcastle and Bournemouth.
They’ll look to continue their good form on Sunday afternoon when they travel to the Etihad Stadium to take on their local rivals and league leaders Manchester City.
