Liverpool news: Nabil Fekir transfer expected next summer amid Chelsea rumours
LIVERPOOL transfer target Nabil Fekir is reportedly expecting to leave Lyon next summer.
Nabil Fekir appears to drop major hint over Liverpool transfer
Fekir was seemingly on the verge of a move to Anfield during the recent summer, though a transfer fell through following concerns over his fitness.
It was thought that Liverpool were worried about the effects of a long-term knee injury though that hasn’t stopped the Frenchman making nine appearances for Lyon this season.
Following the failed move to Anfield, it had been suggested that Chelsea were interested in Fekir.
But French outlet L’Equipe now report that the 25-year-old is expecting to leave Lyon next summer.
It’s not known whether Liverpool will step up their interest in Fekir next summer with Bayern Munich also believed to be keen.
Fekir - who is under contract until 2020 with Lyon - recently admitted he has yet to open talks over an extension.
He said: “What happened with Liverpool is straight out of my head, I turned the page.
"We must not stop at this, we must move forward. There are things that must be accepted.
“My future? We have not discussed an extension yet, we will see what happens."
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp signed Fabinho during the summer while still being interested in Fekir.
And Reds legend Graeme Souness believes that shows the German is still not satisfied with his side.
He said: “I think what happened in the summer with Liverpool, signing Fabinho, signing Keita, and also trying to get Fekir from Lyon, I think that tells you how Jurgen sees the midfield.
“Liverpool’s midfield, they’re three great lads and they work their socks off.
“But they just haven’t got that little bit of quality in games like this, where they can look one way and deliver a pass the other way.
“I think the way that Jurgen saw his midfield, the mere fact he signed two and tried to get three tells you he thinks he is a wee bit short there. I think that showed at times against Manchester City.
“When they were dominant they have a lot of the ball and the danger is, when you try to go for more quality, you might not get somebody to put the same shift in. That’s the balancing act.”
