Tottenham news: Mauricio Pochettino reveals his concerns ahead of Wolves clash
TOTTENHAM boss Mauricio Pochettino admits he’s concerned about keeping his players fit, as he takes his side to Wolves today.
Spurs travel to Wolverhampton to go up against Nuno Espirito Santo’s men, who will be looking to halt their run of losses.
Wolves are still 10th in the Premier League, after defeats to Brighton and Watford, but Pochettino is not underestimating his opposition.
“Wolves are doing very well,” he said.
“We know the manager very well, Nuno did a great job in the Championship and now in the Premier League. He is showing his quality.
We need to manage the squad to be fresh and competitive for every game
“They compete very well.
“It’s tough to be consistent in the Premier League but they are showing from the beginning of the season that they can compete and they have the quality to compete.”
Pochettino has spoken of the difficulty he faces keeping his players fit during a congested fixture period - Spurs have seven matches to play in 21 days.
Spurs’ trip to Molineux is the fifth game of the sequence, with a Champions League clash against PSV on Tuesday and Crystal Palace in the league still to follow.
“We need to manage the squad to be fresh and competitive for every game,” Pochettino said.
"It's always hard. A derby is always hard. It's tough to be ready and fresh to compete.
“Now it's Saturday and Tuesday and it will be tough.
“Premier League - we must win. Champions League - we must win.
Pochettino: I love Unai Emery and have great respect for him
“West Ham - we must win. Palace...it's always tough when you play to win, always tough for the players."
As for Wolves, Pochettino is confident he knowns what to expect from last season’s Championship winners.
“We normally face teams with a similar philosophy to Wolves and it’s a challenge,” Pochettino said.
“But we know their style well and we’ll try to be better and win. That’s most important in the end.”
