Juventus team news: Predicted Juventus line up vs Cagliari – Ronaldo rested for Man Utd?
JUVENTUS may look to rest several key players during their Serie A clash with Cagliari on Saturday (7.30pm) ahead of their Champions League tie against Manchester United.
Juventus: Ronaldo, Cuadrado and Cancelo celebrate
Juventus could look to rotate their squad for this weekend’s meeting with Cagliari as they focus their attention on the upcoming Champions League clash with Manchester United.
Massimiliano Allegri’s side are unbeaten in all competitions so far this season but dropped points away from home against Genoa two weeks ago.
The Old Lady are not expected to make the same mistake in front of their home fans when mid-table Cagliari visit the Allianz Stadium, but Allegri could still rest several key personnel.
Both Giorgio Chiellini and Federico Bernardeschi have trained apart from the first team this week and are not expected to be risked ahead of United’s visit to Turin.
Medhi Benatia will replace Chiellini at centre-back while Rodrigo Bentancur should come into midfield with Emre Can still sidelined after surgery.
Elsewhere, Paulo Dybala was in superb form against the Red Devils in the previous meeting at Old Trafford and could be given the evening off in preparation for a similar performance on Wednesday.
If the Argentina forward is rested, Cristiano Ronaldo will be relied upon to provide a threat against Cagliari.
The Portuguese superstar is in excellent form, having scored seven goals and three assists in 10 league appearances – including a double against Empoli last weekend.
Ronaldo should be supported by Mario Mandzukic if the Croatian has fully recovered from an ankle injury, while Douglas Costa is expected to line up on the other flank.
Sami Khedira is available once again but may only feature from the bench with Miralem Pjanic and Blaise Matuidi fixtures in central midfield.
Juve are currently top of Serie A by six points from Inter Milan and Napoli, while Cagliari are down in 12th but on a three-match unbeaten run.
Meanwhile, Allegri’s side have three wins from three in their Champions League campaign so far but the Italian is not expected to take any chances when Jose Mourinho’s side visit next week.
