Sergio Ramos breaks silence on heated training ground bust-up with Real Madrid team-mate
SERGIO RAMOS has apologised after being caught on camera blasting a ball his Real Madrid team-mate Sergio Reguilon.
Sergio Ramos appears to BLAST ball at team-mate in training
Tensions have been rising in the Spanish capital with the club failing to win their last five games.
Four of those matches have ended in losses and Los Blancos have scored only one goal across their last 450 minutes of football.
Saturday’s home encounter with mid-table Levante was seen as a tune-up for their Champions League clash with Plzen on Tuesday.
Julen Lopetegui’s side lost 2-1, however, as the board’s backing on him begins to wane.
As the Real Madrid players trained ahead of their important European fixture, club captain Ramos was filmed getting accidentally hit in the face by 21-year-old Reguilon.
The Spain international is seen holding the ball as players go through an exercise drill.
But as he turns to pass it to someone else, a youth team player dived across him trying to block the pass, seemingly connecting or coming near to connecting with Ramos’ face in doing so.
The centre-back was not happy with the incident and blasted the football at Reguilon in retaliation - although it sailed away from his intended target.
They are quite common situations, but it is not an excuse, my reaction should not have been that
The player then seems to go to apologise and Ramos kicks another ball at him - this time it pinging off his target and flying in the other direction.
Luka Modric then walks over to Ramos to soothe the tensions as the game ends.
Ramos goes to get a water bottle and spray his hair, while holding his nose seemingly in some discomfort.
Ramos has taken to Twitter to apologise for his actions.
"Although it may not seem like it, they are quite common situations, but it is not an excuse, my reaction should not have been that," Ramos wrote.
"We always go full, right, Regui? In the end team victory together."
Reguilon replied to the tweet, saying: "Always with my team and with my captain, for victory tomorrow!"
