Arsenal news: Emery gets to grips with Welbeck in training as Ozil gears up for Leicester
ARSENAL manager Unai Emery led by example during the Gunners' latest training session ahead of their Premier League clash with Leicester tomorrow (8pm).
Unai Emery got stuck into his Arsenal players during the Gunners’ latest training session ahead of their return to Premier League action against Leicester.
Arsenal are currently on a nine-match winning streak in all competitions but haven’t played since their 5-1 victory over Fulham before the international break.
And Gunners boss Emery is obviously keen to make sure his squad is well-prepared for when the Foxes visit the Emirates tomorrow.
The Spaniard was seen grappling with Danny Welbeck and taking part in drills as the Arsenal players were put through their paces at London Colney.
Emery is a much more active figure on the training ground than his predecessor Arsene Wenger, pulling his star men into position and joining in to make up the numbers.
The 46-year-old will surely be delighted to see Mesut Ozil in action as the German midfielder nears a return from a back injury.
Ozil sat out the rout against Fulham but looks fully fit and should be back in the starting XI against Leicester.
There was more good news for the Gunners as club captain Laurent Koscielny played a role in the session as he continues his recovery from an Achilles problem.
Speaking about Koscielny, Emery said: "We need to be calm with him. Calm because we need [to wait] more than a month.
“He needs to feel [well] first, if he is doing some things, then he is doing well.
“Then when he can play and is available for games in the training, [then] we can think he is okay to play.
“He is very important for us because he is our captain. He is starting this week to do some training with us together and it is very, very good news for us.
“I think we need also to give confidence to him, to be close with us, because it was a big injury.
“But now he is getting better, he is training with us in some things and this is very positive.”
Following the visit of Leicester, Arsenal travel to Lisbon for their Europa League group stage clash with Sporting.
The Gunners are then back in Premier League action next weekend against Crystal Palace before taking on Blackpool in the League Cup as the fixtures start to pile up.
