Barcelona team news: Predicted Barcelona line up vs Sevilla - Valverde reveals problems
BARCELONA boss Ernesto Valverde is facing a defensive injury crisis ahead of their clash with Sevilla.
The Spanish giants host Sevilla at the Nou Camp this evening (7:45pm).
Luis Suarez and Sergi Roberto are fit for Barcelona’s La Liga clash today.
However, Valverde has problems with his back four.
Samuel Umtiti is sidelined with a knee injury, while Thomas Vermaelen is also out for around six weeks.
Gerard Pique and Clement Lenglet are Valverde’s only fit centre-backs ahead of a crucial week for Barca.
Following tonight’s clash with Sevilla, Barca then face Inter Milan in the Champions League before El Clasico against Real Madrid next weekend.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Valverde confirmed Umtiti is still undergoing treatment.
He said: “He is following treatment to strengthen his muscles.
“We hope he will be back soon with us because there are important games coming up.”
On his defensive options, Valverde added: “[Sergio] Busquets could play in defence, we’ll look for solutions if we need them.
“It’s possible that I will use players from the B team.
“We have quality to count on in the first team squad and in the B squad.
“Sevilla are a team on a good run. The game in the Super Cup is a reference point, but they can change the team and they have more options now.
“Of course these upcoming three games are important, we play against Sevilla, the league leader.
“Since I arrived here it’s the first time that we are no league leaders so it’s different. We then player Inter and Real Madrid, we like it a lot.”
