Liverpool news: Salah, Van Dijk and Milner spotted in training but no Mane or Keita
LIVERPOOL have received a boost ahead of their Premier League clash with Huddersfield as a trio of injured stars are seen training at Melwood.
Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and James Milner were all spotted in training this afternoon as Liverpool received a timely boost ahead of their clash with Huddersfield.
The trio were all doubtful to face the Terriers due to injury but their presence at Melwood suggests they have a chance of featuring on Saturday.
However, there was no sign of Sadio Mane or Naby Keita in the official club photographs after the pair also suffered injuries during the international break.
Despite the absences, manager Jurgen Klopp has been further boosted by the return to full fitness of Adam Lallana and could start the 30-year-old this weekend.
Salah was on target for Egypt in their 4-1 win over Swaziland during the international break but limped off in the closing stages with a muscle strain.
Injury fears were played down by the Pharaohs coaching staff and Salah’s presence in today’s session suggests he will feature this weekend.
There was also a further boost for Liverpool fans regarding Van Dijk, with the Dutchman training despite news he has been playing with broken ribs during the last month.
The centre-back pulled out of the Netherlands squad ahead of their match against Belgium but now looks set to play against Huddersfield.
James Milner is also in contention to start at the John Smith’s Stadium with his recovery from a hamstring injury progressing quicker than anticipated.
Unfortunately, there was no sign of Sadio Mane during the latest session after the Senegalese forward required surgery on a broken thumb.
Naby Keita was also absent after picking up a thigh injury playing for Guinea and has potentially been ruled out for up to two weeks.
Xherdan Shaqiri is expected to come in as a direct replacement for Mane while Fabinho could be handed his first Premier League start since joining from Monaco in the summer.
Alternatively, Klopp could switch formations and deploy Daniel Sturridge as a lone striker with Roberto Firmino in behind the frontman and Lallana out wide.
