Liverpool news: ‘Mohamed Salah and Man Utd star Paul Pogba have same problem’ - EXCLUSIVE
LIVERPOOL star Mohamed Salah could be struggling for the same reason as Manchester United’s Paul Pogba, Paul Ince believes.
Paul Pogba shows impressive skills in France training
Liverpool forward Salah and Manchester United midfielder Pogba have both endured mixed starts to the new campaign.
The Reds star blitzed 44 goals last season as Jurgen Klopp’s side reached the Champions League final.
However, Salah has found his second campaign with Liverpool far tougher, managing just three goals from 11 outings across all competitions so far.
Pogba, meanwhile, has blown hot and cold for United this season.
The France international has a precarious relationship with Jose Mourinho - something many believe has contributed to his struggles.
But Ince has a different theory.
The former Liverpool and Manchester United midfielder instead thinks the World Cup in Russia may be down to their struggles.
He told Express Sport: “Yeah, Salah’s struggling, but he’s an outstanding player.
“You can’t drop him as you need to keep those three (Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane) together.
“He was injured at the end of last season and maybe wasn’t fully fit for Egypt.
“I know Pogba was great for France but he’s not been as impressive for United.
“That could be because of the World Cup.
“I’ve played in these tournaments and they’re far from easy. They’re draining and can be exhausting.
Mo Salah exits pitch following muscle injury playing for Egypt
“That could be why Salah is struggling and possibly Pogba too.”
Salah picked up a slight injury for Egypt during their 4-1 win over eSwatini on Friday.
But Egypt assistant coach Hany Ramzy told Bein Sports: "The initial diagnosis, according to the team doctor, is a strong muscle strain.
“It is not a tear. I think it is not serious."
