Man Utd news: Zinedine Zidane has already made plans for Old Trafford job - EXCLUSIVE
MANCHESTER UNITED have been linked with Zinedine Zidane - and Paul Ince thinks the former Real Madrid boss already knows the style of play he would implement.
Manchester United remain a club in crisis, with Jose Mourinho under pressure to deliver as Zidane’s shadow grows larger in the background.
The Frenchman is the overwhelming favourite to replace Mourinho should the Portuguese’s head roll, with fans craving a change at the top.
For now, Manchester United are backing Mourinho to come good. Ed Woodward, in particular, does not want to see another managerial appointment fail.
But Ince, speaking exclusively to Express Sport, reckons Zidane already knows the style he would implement.
“Zizou did great at Real Madrid,” the former United and Liverpool midfielder said.
“He came in and won Champions League after Champions League, just phenomenal.
“He had a style at Real Madrid. And it got the best from their attacking players.
“Players bought into it. Zidane’s way of playing got them on side and that, for me, was significant.
“You look at United now and they don’t have a way of playing.
“But Zidane did at Real. And if he gets the United job I see him using that same style.”
Ince also thinks that United players must step up to rescue Mourinho from the axe.
“Look, I still think he can turn it around,” Ince added.
“But the players need to deliver. Look at Alexis Sanchez and Paul Pogba.
Craig Burley: Zidane will have a HUGE job to do at Man United
“I know they beat Newcastle last week but for me, that has papered over some of the cracks.
“Mourinho needs his players playing for him and they showed they can fight, that they do care.
“But they have to help him out of this mess.”
