Chelsea news: Eden Hazard transfer to Real Madrid depends on one thing - pundit
EDEN HAZARD’s dream move to Real Madrid from Chelsea depends on one thing - money.
That is according to ESPN FC pundit and former Tottenham, Leicester and USA goalkeeper Kasey Keller.
Eden Hazard has once again spoken about his desire to play for Real Madrid this week.
The Belgium international says it is a dream of his to turn out for Los Blancos at some point in his career.
He admits his best chance of winning the Ballon d’Or would be to move to the Spanish giants.
It depends on what are Real Madrid’s finances, it depends obviously on what Chelsea’s plans are. Do they re-sign him to a huge deal?
Hazard’s contract at Chelsea expires in the summer of 2020 but would still likely attract a huge transfer fee if he left in 2019.
And Keller has questioned whether Real Madrid will have enough to fund a deal for a forward who turns 28 in January.
And in the same token, whether Chelsea would give a bumper new contract to their star man who seems so keen on leaving.
“Hazard’s been on the radar at Real Madrid for a while,” Keller said.
“We’ve been talking about that for at least six months to a year.
“It will always be question mark, you’re talking about a transfer that is going to be very, very large.
“So it depends on what are Real Madrid’s finances, it depends obviously on what Chelsea’s plans are.
“Do they re-sign him to a huge deal?
"Or is it just ‘a chance to go to Real Madrid?’, we’ve heard that before many times.
“You don’t have those opportunities very often and when a team like Real Madrid is truly interested do you then just go to the club and say ‘look, I have to take this opportunity’.
“The question is will Lopetegui even be there long enough to make this deal happen?
“There are a lot of factors that get involved whenever the name Real Madrid comes around, players’ ears definitely perk up and you think that if this is a chance to go play for Real Madrid, you have to consider that.”
