Man Utd news: Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey backed to complete move to Old Trafford
ARSENAL star Aaron Ramsey would provide a much-needed goal threat in the Manchester United midfield if he joined the Red Devils.
That is the verdict of ESPN FC pundit and former Liverpool defender Steve Nicol.
Aaron Ramsey is out of contract at Arsenal at the end of the current season.
The Gunners had offered the Wales international a new, improved deal but have now withdrawn the offer in the last couple of weeks.
That means Ramsey can leave the north London club for free next summer if they do not change their mind.
Manchester United get no goalscoring threat from the middle of the park whatsoever. If there’s one thing you can say about Ramsey, he gives you that
Manchester United came close to signing Ramsey before he joined Arsenal from Cardiff back in 2008.
And they have been once again linked with his signature 10 years on.
And Nicol believes the 28-year-old would be a wise piece of business from United.
“Yes I think it would (make sense),” Nicol said.
“Right now, for me, Manchester United get no goalscoring threat from the middle of the park whatsoever.
“If there’s one thing you can say about Ramsey, he gives you that.
“So I think this would make sense for both him and for Manchester United.
"So yes (it would be a good move)."
Ramsey has played 338 games for Arsenal in all competitions, scoring 59 goals.
He starred off the bench with a goal and an assist in the 5-1 win over Fulham on Sunday.
He started Wales' international friendly against Spain at the Principality Stadium tonight.
Ryan Giggs' side saw themselves 3-0 down before half time in Cardiff.
