Chelsea star Hazard emerged as a top Real Madrid transfer target following Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Juventus.
Ronaldo called time on his Bernabeu career back in July, leaving Los Blancos after nine successful years in a £105million deal.
Chelsea managed to fend off Real on Hazard, leading to talk that the La Liga giants had instead focused their efforts on Neymar.
And Ok Diario director Eduardo Inda has now provided details of the huge bid that Real made for the wing wizard.
He told El Chiringuito: "This summer Real Madrid tried to sign Hazard and Marcos Alonso.
“But Chelsea always said no.
“Real Madrid was willing to offer 170 million euros for Hazard”
Madrid’s loss, though, has been Chelsea’s gain.
The west London outfit have seen their star man reborn under the freedom of new head coach Maurizio Sarri.
Hazard has struck eight goals from 10 appearances since the World Cup.
And a move to Real could yet happen with the winger admitting to doubts over his Chelsea future.
"I will tell you the truth. After the World Cup I wanted to leave, it's my dream to play in Spain,” he said.
