Man Utd insiders reveal what Jose Mourinho will do with Alexis Sanchez after Newcastle win
JOSE MOURINHO is primed to use Alexis Sanchez in a central role following his Manchester United winner against Newcastle, it has been claimed.
Mourinho has Sanchez to thank for staying as Manchester United manager after his dramatic goal sunk Newcastle at Old Trafford.
The 55-year-old looked down and out after Kenedy and Yoshinori Muto struck inside the opening 20 minutes.
However, Manchester United mounted a stunning comeback with Alexis Sanchez heading the winner in the 90th minute.
That came with the Chile international playing in a central role.
Romelu Lukaku, the club’s normal No 9, was shunted out wide to accommodate the 29-year-old.
And Bleacher Report claim Sanchez is set for more opportunities down the middle.
His United career is yet to truly take off.
Sanchez signed from Arsenal in January with the club regarding it as a major coup.
They released a much-mocked video celebrating his signing, with the player treating fans to a piano performance.
On the pitch, though, he has been nothing short of dreadful.
Costing the club roughly £400,000 each week, his goal against Newcastle was just his fourth.
Bleacher Report also add that United feel Sanchez’s struggles may be down to him leaving London.
Man Utd didn't need to sign Alexis Sanchez says Paul Scholes
At Arsenal, he was rightly regarded as one of the Premier League’s standout players.
But living up north has supposedly hampered his performances for his new club.
Mourinho’s stifling regime has not helped.
And whether Sanchez can kick on for United remains to be seen.
