If he went to Manchester United and they gave him until the end of the season, I don’t think you’d get that many Manchester United fans going ‘oh no not him'
Darren Gough on Steve Bruce replacing Jose Mourinho
Gough claims Bruce knows the club inside out and can steady the ship for the rest of the campaign to give United time to find a long-term successor.
“He knows the club, he’s probably a fan of the club, that’s who he supports if he were to support a team,” Gough said.
“And if he went to Manchester United and they gave him until the end of the season, I don’t think you’d get that many Manchester United fans going ‘oh no not him'.
“We’re talking not a rushed decision so they should get somebody in who knows the club, get him in until the end of the season to make sure they go through all the right processes to get the right manager in.

“That’s the difference. He knows it though, he knows how it’s run.
“No they wouldn’t (win the title under Bruce). (But) he knows everything about Manchester United and he goes in and tries to do his best until the end of the season.
“It doesn’t mean he’s going to get it, it doesn’t mean he will get the job full-time.
“It just means Manchester United, rather than rushing in, can get everything they want in a manager and make sure they take their time in getting the right man for the job.
