Everton player ratings vs Arsenal: Richarlison offers hope, Calvert-Lewin fails to impress
EVERTON fell to a disappointing defeat against Arsenal at the Emirates – but who failed to deliver?
Everton were defeated 2-0 by Arsenal after a lacklustre display from too many Toffees' aces at the Emirates on Sunday.
The visitors were punished by goals from Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and failed to capitalise on big chances that fell their way.
Theo Walcott and Dominic Calvert-Lewin should have scored for Everton, but failed to apply the killer touch.
Richarlison was the brightest spark for the Toffees with a solid display on his return from suspension, but he couldn't drag his side to victory.
Express Sport has rounded up the Everton player ratings during their clash with Arsenal.
Jordan Pickford – 7
Made a great save in the first half to keep Everton afloat. Almost caught out by a miss-hit cross that struck his bar.
Jonjoe Kenny – 6
Arsenal appeared to channel everything down Kenny's side in the first half but he dealt with the danger well... until the second half.
Michael Keane – 6
A little rusty on his first appearance since returning from a nasty head injury, but held firm in the first half at least.
Kurt Zouma – 5
At fault for Arsenal's second goal. Zouma also seems to have lost some of the pace that made him such a promising rising star.
Lucas Digne – 6
Looks comfortable and confident moving forward with the ball, likely to keep Leighton Baines out of the team.
Idrissa Gueye – 6
Everton's best hope in the middle of the park, but once the visitors went down, he could do nothing to prevent the slide.
Tom Davies – 5
Barely had an impact on the game. Offered little in the way of attacking threat or defensive stability.
Theo Walcott – 6
A very 'Theo Walcott' display on his return to the Emirates. Walcott used his pace well but couldn't finish one of Everton's best chances.
Gylfi Sigurdsson – 5
Needs to provide more of a goal threat from range. Most of Everton's chances came from the flanks, but Sigurdsson needs to be doing more to provide a threat.
Richarlison – 7
The fiesty Brazilian will be the Toffees' best hope of success this season. He was terrier-like in chasing the ball down and was a good outlet all day.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 4
It's tough to work out what Calvert-Lewin is particularly strong at. He's a hard worker, but lacked quality and presence in the final third. Should have scored early on.
