Substitute Roberto Firmino struck a stoppage-time winner as Liverpool beat PSG 3-2 on home turf last night after Kylian Mbappe looked to have secured a point for the French side.
While Firmino stole the headlines with his last-gasp strike, one of the highlights of the game was Mane making Neymar look silly with a stunning piece of skill.
The Brazilian, who was relatively under par at Anfield, found himself up against Mane on the right flank in the 25th minute.
With some fancy footwork and a swift change of direction, Mane sent Neymar packing before sprinting into the box.
While Liverpool couldn’t quite convert the opportunity Mane created, Liverpool fans still absoutely loved their No 10’s stunning move on Neymar.
“Mane sent Neymar back to Paris. That dummy was dirty,” one fan wrote.
Another said: “Mane ending Neymar was one of my favourite moments of tonight.”
“I have to say, what Mane did to Neymar was pure filth,” a third supporter commented.
A fourth fan said: “Mane's sick body front on Neymar was the highlight of the half for me! So Brutal.”
While Liverpool have Firmino to thank for bagging three points in their Champions League opener, manager Jurgen Klopp admitted it was touch-and-go whether the forward could feature against PSG after suffering an eye injury against Tottenham last weekend.
“There was no chance yesterday, absolutely no chance the day before, and this morning he came in and said, 'I'm fine, I can open the eye again'. That helps. It was good," he said.
“Yesterday it didn't look really well, we had only one session, which we really used, this morning and Bobby tested a little bit but then he went in.
“And I really think it is a moment where you have to show faith in the squad. Yes, when you have Bobby Firmino available, you actually always think, 'Come on, bring him'.
“But it was nice to see how Daniel [Sturridge] performed tonight and he paid 100 per cent back so that's so cool for him, for us, such an important sign.
“Then bringing Bobby after 70 minutes, it's a nice tool to be honest, I really like that. So it was good.”
Sturridge, who had not started a Champions League game since his days with Chelsea in 2012, was given the nod to replace Firmino in attack.
Jurgen Klopp praises Liverpool after win against PSG
The Englishman headed Liverpool in front on the half-hour mark before James Milner doubled the host’s lead six minutes later from the spot after Georginio Wijnaldum was fouled.
Thomas Meunier pulled one back for the visitors just before the break but Liverpool remained in control as stars Neymar and Mbappe were subdued by the Reds.
Liverpool thought they had a third after the break when Mohamed Salah had the ball in the net but his effort was ruled out by referee Cuneyt Cakir who correctly judged that Sturridge had fouled Alphonse Areola when the pair scrapped for a loose ball.
However, the game was turned on it’s head seven minutes from time when Salah carelessly lost possession in his own half.
Neymar ran towards the home defence and the ball fell to 19-year-old Mbappe who drove home with supreme confidence but Firmino saved Liverpool’s blushes with his goal in the dying seconds.
