Man Utd news: Paul Pogba told to do one thing for Jose Mourinho before leaving United
MANCHESTER UNITED star Paul Pogba must concentrate on giving his best on the pitch - because he will not be able to leave until next summer.
That is the verdict of former Chelsea midfielder turned ESPN FC pundit Craig Burley.
Pogba’s future at Manchester United is up in the air after a reported feud with manager Jose Mourinho.
The Frenchman fuelled speculation last week while on international duty, claiming he did not know where he would be playing his football in a few months.
Burley admits he is fed up with all the talk surrounding Pogba and Mourinho and says the midfielder must concentrate on his football, because he will not be allowed to leave in January.
The transfer window doesn’t open until January, it’s unlikely that top players leave in January and he is a top player
“It’s been fuelled again by comments from Pogba that are there for all to see,” Burley said.
“So it is a soap opera, I’m getting pretty fed up with it now.
“I just want to see Pogba playing and playing well for Manchester United and showing us what he’s all about, driving United forward, getting the goals, really being the backbone of that team.
“I’m fed up of ‘happy’ or ‘not happy’ and contracts and what not.
“The transfer window doesn’t open until January, it’s unlikely that top players leave in January and he is a top player.
“So we are probably looking at the summer if he is going to leave, or indeed if Mourinho leaves in the summer and the situation may resolve itself.”
Burley disagrees with the theory either Jose Mourinho or Paul Pogba has to leave the club as soon as possible.
So he says the pair must knuckle down until the end of the season and focus on winning games.
“No the only way forward is results and what will be will be,” he added.
“Where are we now? September. We’re probably talking about eight or nine months down the line.
“In the meantime, as a highly paid manager and a highly paid player, they really need to get on with pegging back Man City and one or two other clubs who are getting on with their football.
“So please, just get on with your football, and we’ll deal with the other stuff come the end of the season.”
United and Pogba are back in Premier League action this Saturday when they visit Watford.
