Man Utd accused of AMATEUR mistakes over Pogba and Mourinho mess
MANCHESTER UNITED have dealt with the fallout between Jose Mourinho and Paul Pogba like “a club from five or six levels below”.
That is according to Paul Parker, who formerly played as a right-back at Old Trafford.
Pogba has been consistently coy over his United future ever since France’s World Cup triumph in July.
Amid conjecture in August that the midfielder received overtures from Barcelona, Pogba answered a question regarding his happiness at United saying: “There are things I cannot say otherwise I will get fined.”
Mourinho responded to the summer speculation by naming the midfielder his new captain for the Red Devils’ first two league games.
The Portuguese boss insisted he had “never been so happy” with Pogba as he was at the start of the season.
But Pogba may no longer be his star pupil following comments he made while on international break with France.
“I’m playing at United at the moment, but who knows what will happen in the next few months,” the 25-year-old said on his future.
Parker was a far more straight-laced Paul to pull on the United shirt, and hasn’t been impressed with the recent chaos at the club.
What’s coming out of Manchester United PR-wise is something you expect from a club five or six levels below
“What’s coming out of Manchester United PR-wise is something you expect from a club five or six levels below – it’s not top-level PR,” he told talkSPORT.
“Sometimes you can’t give the devil what he wants and if that’s what he’s looking for, if he’s trying to dictate and control, you don’t give it.
“Footballers in today’s game are commodities and a group of them together speak louder than any one manager.
“It wouldn’t have happened 20 years ago, because players were there just to play football and we knew where we stood.
“If we shouted too loud, we were lucky if we were only shouted down, but at worst we’d lose our jobs.
“But today, players don’t lose their jobs.”
