Man Utd news: Jose Mourinho branded a 'pain in the butt' by tournament organiser
JOSE MOURINHO has been branded a 'pain in the butt' by International Champions Cup organiser Charlie Stillitano.
Jose Mourinho: I am one of the greatest managers in the world
The Manchester United boss is known for his controversy and off the field antics.
And Mourinho spent most of pre-season complaining that his ICC squad didn't stand a chance due to the amount of players enjoying post-World Cup holidays.
The United coach even asked a number of his players to cut short their breaks to return to Carrington early.
And Stillitano, who is executive chairman of Relevent Sports, the company planning to stage a La Liga match in the United States, admits Mourinho's meticulous training preparations made him a 'pain in the butt' this summer.
"Yeah we had a few cheeky words together," Stillitano told ESPN.
"He's a good man and he's been really good to us and I understand him better than most I'd say.
"I think managers that I know see us as the guys who take them abroad.
"And for them the reality is that they take it very seriously.
Jose, he's a pain in the butt when it comes to making sure everything is perfect at his training facility
"The managers take it very seriously. And the commercial people take it very serious for their business to grow their brand.
"But the managers take it more than anybody, want the right atmosphere, want the right training environment.
"They want to prepare their team and our tournament has become the best tournament of its kind, and its kind is really to prepare the team, so they take it very seriously.
"And Jose, he's a pain in the butt when it comes to making sure everything is perfect at his training facility.
"And I would expect whatever teams come over from La Liga are going to torture me too in the same way to make sure that everything is perfect."
Plans to host a La Liga game in the US are being discussed and reports suggest Barcelona could face Girona in Miami in January.
As for United, they have endured a mixed start to the season.
Mourinho appears to have patched up his problems with certain members of his squad.
However, question marks still surround his future at Old Trafford due to defeats against Brighton and Tottenham last month.
