Celtic transfer news: Aberdeen manager reveals Rodgers talks over McKenna
ABERDEEN manager Derek McInnes insists Celtic would be wasting their time coming back with another bid for Scott McKenna.
The Hoops had a £3.5million bid rejected for Scotland international defender McKenna this week, but have been linked with another move for the 21-year-old in the final week of the transfer window.
With Jozo Simunovic injured, Dedryck Boyata refusing to play and Kristoffer Ajer and Jack Hendry unsure in the middle of the defence, Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is desperate to bolster his defence.
McInnes, however, is adamant McKenna won’t be leaving this month.
He said: “We’ve had a conversation with Celtic and made our position clear, and they have accepted that.
“I spoke to Brendan and they have spoken at boardroom level.
“It’s difficult to react to another rumour that someone is thinking about putting in another offer.
“McKenna’s market, for me, will be the English Premier League.
“We’re not in a position where we need to do a deal.
"We want him to play a big part for us this season.
"For me, he’ll go to the English Premier League, and we’ll get the bigger ticket on the back of that.
“I’m very confident of that.
"It’s not a matter of if, it’s when he goes there.”
