Lewis Hamilton reveals the one shock thing he did after Formula One season finished
LEWIS HAMILTON has revealed one shock thing he does in the Formula One off-season.
Lewis Hamilton has been snowboarding in the off-season
Hamilton, 33, is expected to sign a three-year deal worth around £85million to stay in F1 One at Mercedes.
But he appears to be risking serious injury by spending time snowboarding during the off-season.
Hamilton's winter started in Los Angeles before moving to his home in Colorado where there was little snow, and then on to Japan where there was plenty.
"Snowboarding is what I love doing in the winter so I do as much as I can," said Lewis Hamilton, who also worked out in Hawaii and spent time riding waves with professional surf great Kelly Slater.
Lewis Hamilton has also enjoyed a spot of surfing
"It's great for working out because you're paddling the whole time and it's quite physical," said the Briton of that activity.
"I got down to a 6'2 board, so I was quite happy with my progress.
"My dream when I watch top surfers like Kelly, see him on the big wave with the big barrel coming over, it's crazy.
“So I'm like that's where I want to be. I go for the biggest waves and get barrelled over."
Hamilton’s new deal is likely to include a break cause meaning he can get out of the contract when he wishes.
But the Brit has refused to say when exactly he will retire.
"Do I want to go next year? Yes. Do I want to go the year after? Most likely. Do I want to go after that? I'm not sure,” he said.
“But what I can tell you right now is that if I feel this way next year and the year after that, I'm going to keep extending it and just keep going."
