Lewis Hamilton beaten twice in Belgian Grand Prix practice sessions
LEWIS HAMILTON was unable to set the fastest lap in both of the first two practice sessions at the Belgian Grand Prix.
Ferrari dominated the opening day at Spa-Francorchamps with Sebastian Vettel the quickest during FP1 and Kimi Raikkonen topped the charts after FP2.
Hamilton also finished behind Red Bull’s Max Verstappen during the opening session of the day but he came second behind Raikkonen later in the day.
Raikkonen finished the fastest for the first time in a practice session since Bahrain.
Both Mercedes and Ferrari have been fitted with new engines this weekend and are expected to be evenly matches when qualifying gets underway tomorrow.
During the summer break Fernando Alonso announced he was leaving Formula One at the end of the season.
And the Spaniard struggled on his first day back, finishing 16th behind team-mate Stoffel Vandoorne.
Red Bull showed glimpses of promise as Verstappen secured a fourth-placed finish in FP2 while Daniel Ricciardo came sixth, just behind Vettel who made a couple of slight mistakes on his fastest laps.
The final practice session takes place tomorrow morning at 11am, with qualifying following at 2pm.
