Ashes: Joe Root 'excited' by potential Jofra Archer debut
Australia take a 1-0 lead into the second Test after thrashing England by 251 runs at Edgbaston in the Ashes opener.
The tourists had been 122-8 on the first day but recovered courtesy of a Steve Smith century.
The former captain then repeated the feat in the second innings as Australia battled back from a 90-run deficit after Rory Burns hit a maiden Test ton for England.
Matthew Wade also hit triple digits in the Aussies' second knock with the visitors setting England a 398 target to win at Edgbaston.
That was never going to be reached, although there was hope the English could bat through the fifth day to earn a draw.
However, it wasn't to be as Nathan Lyon claimed six wickets in brilliant fashion to take the lead in the Ashes.
The result also gave Australia their first Test win at Edgbaston since 2001.
The Ashes continues with the second Test at Lord’s from 11am BST this morning.
