Deontay Wilder blames referee for costing him victory against Tyson Fury
DEONTAY WILDER believes referee Jack Reiss should have counted Tyson Fury out and awarded him the victory this morning.
Wilder and Fury fought to a draw at Los Angeles' Staples Centre meaning the American retained his WBC heavyweight title.
However, the controversial split decision sparked outrage as the majority of pundits and supporters felt Fury dominated most of the rounds.
There was a moment in the final round where Wilder thought the fight was over when he landed a brilliant right-left combo which left the Gypsy King sprawled across the canvas.
Miraculously, Fury got to his feet as the referee counted to eight while Wilder was celebrating with a dance on the other side of the ring.
The American was unhappy with the count as he felt he should have had the knockout win.
"I have a few questions that I ask myself what are circulating around with the count," Wilder said.
"My man Joe Hanks they got on him quick - the minute he hit the ground [on the undercard] they started counting.
"But Fury was laid out and they hesitated a little bit.
"But we both went home happy and that's what it's all about."
Wilder is lucky to still be in possession of the WBC belt but he was adamant he deserved the win.
"I don't know how he got up," Wilder added.
"I don't know why they didn't start the count earlier.
"We don't make no excuses. I started overthrowing my right hand and I really wanted to get him out of there.
"It seemed like he had baby oil on him - he was slippery.
"All in all I had a lot of fun and I hope you guys did.
"I really thought I had him out of there.

"I hit him with a right hand then followed with a left hook.
"Everybody knows I had got heavy hands and I hit hard. I literally seen his eyes roll in the back of his head.
"I saw him being checked on the ground and I thought it was over.
"Only God knows how he got back up."
