Anthony Joshua shows his sharpness ahead of Povetkin fight
Boxing News - Anthony Joshua claim from Eddie Hearn
Eddie Hearn believes Anthony Joshua’s upcoming bout against Alexander Povetkin will be the toughest of his career.
“I see this as the toughest fight of his career, not only because Povetkin is number three heavyweight in the world, former Olympic gold medallist and World Heavyweight Champion but because everybody’s looking at what’s next,” Hearn told BettingPro.
“Joshua said he felt the pressure of that in the Parker fight; everyone was talking about Wilder and the fight after this rather than focussing on this fight.
“When you look at the World Heavyweight independent rankings it’s Joshua, Wilder and Povetkin, so we’re not fighting two but we are fighting number three.”
I can’t see him fighting Wilder but they agreed to a fight and he’ll pull out with an injury because he’s not ready
Boxing news - Dillian Whyte makes Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury prediction
Dillian Whyte doesn’t foresee Tyson Fury fighting Deontay Wilder this year and believes ‘The Gypsy King’ will pull out of his proposed showdown with the WBC heavyweight champion.
“I’m happy that he’s back; I’m glad that he got himself out of a bad place but you know, Tyson Fury talks a lot of smack but he doesn’t want any smoke, he doesn’t want to fight,” Whyte said of the lineal heavyweight champion.
“I can’t see him fighting Wilder but they agreed to a fight and he’ll pull out with an injury because he’s not ready.”
Boxing News - Gennady Golovkin’s coach hits out at Canelo
Gennady Golovkin’s coach Abel Sanchez doesn’t believe Canelo Alvarez will stay true to his word and try to knock out ‘GGG’ in their eagerly-anticipated rematch.
"Everyone can improve, the issue is if we're going to let Canelo do what he wants, or if he's going to let us do what we're looking for,” Sanchez told ESPN Deportes.
“We definitely do not expect a different fight, the only difference is that now [is Canelo] wants to go out and win because in the first fight he did not do it, and (Golovkin) will not do anything different, just go out and win," said Sanchez.
"We are not convinced that Canelo is going to keep his word and do what is necessary to try to knock out Golovkin, he's just talking and we do not think he's willing to look for those opportunities.
“He's going to run, and we're preparing for that - but if he keeps his word, we will also be ready for a true boxing classic."
