UK WEATHER is to see temperatures drop this week following record breaking conditions, but forecasters are confident the heat levels will pick up again, with some areas likely to reach 30 degrees Celsius.
BBC weather: Kirkwood warns of temperature DROP
This week will start off milder, with some places likely to see temperatures drop dramatically, however, BBC Breakfast reporter Carol Kirkwood ensured viewers it will still remain sunny.
She stated: “For most of us today it’s going to be dry, there is some light rain and drizzle in the forecast as well and for some it’s going to be cooler and that’s because we’ve got a weak weather front strolling southwards, starting in the east coast of the country.”
Not much rain in the forecast for the week ahead following a glorious weekend, which saw most places showered with sunshine.
However, this week will start off cooler and cloudier in some parts of the UK, but still largely dry.
Once again high pressure is controlling Britain’s weather, however, on Monday a frontal weather system will slip southwards, causing temperatures to drop significantly.
The cold front will introduce some slightly cooler and fresher air initially in the north before moving further south.
A bit more cloud for Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern and eastern parts of England this morning.
It won’t feel as hot as it has been across the east coast of England and Northern Ireland due to this cold front.
But western parts of England and Wales are expected to still hold on to the heat for at least another day or two.
Temperatures still quite high on Monday afternoon with London looking at 30 degrees Celsius, meanwhile most areas in the south west of the country above 24 degrees Celsius.
Yet further north temperatures struggling to top 20 degrees Celsius, with most likely to reach the high teens.
This evening dry and clear for much of the country, but it will be cloudier in the north and there is the chance of rain across Scotland.
Tuesday is going to feel brisk, especially for those close to the coast as cooler air filters in from the North Sea.
Top temperatures on Tuesday around 24 degrees Celsius, so notably colder than it has been these past few weeks.
Wednesday will be another dry and bright day in the south, however, there will be rain in the north of the country.
It will be warmer and drier on Thursday, even in the north, although showers are still likely, meanwhile dry and sunny in the south.
With the UK smashing weather records in recent weeks, bookmaker Ladbrokes have once again slashed odd on this summer being the hottest on record.
Having been a 1/4 shot last week, the bookies now make it just 1/5 that Summer 2018 enters the record books as the hottest ever.
Ladbrokes spokesperson Alex Apati said: "This hot weather isn't going anywhere fast and we're confident records will be broken as a result."
BBC Breakfast airs weekdays on BBC One at 6am.
