Britain’s Got Talent 2018: Simon Cowell announces BIG ITV bombshell which changes it all
BRITAIN’S GOT TALENT 2018 came to an incredible end this weekend which saw the Lost Voice Guy winning the competition. But could the show be set to change networks in coming years?
Britain's Got Talent: Simon teases HUGE surprise
Britain’s Got Talent boss Simon Cowell is always keen to switch up the shows he runs.
This year saw a change-up in the live shows, which saw contestants performing live on TV in the Hammersmith Apollo.
It also saw the first ever comedian - Lee Ridley - in the show’s history to win the competition.
Lee was up against another comedian Robert White, and singer songwriter Donchez Dacres.
However Simon recently revealed he has been thinking about the show on another network.
Speaking to Mail on Sunday he announced that the BBC made an offer on the TV show “a few years ago”.
Although potentially appealing, Simon turned down the offer, but it sounds like it has been playing on his mind ever since.
He said: “I have thought about it. [The BBC] did offer me a deal a few years ago, and it's something I am thinking about.
“You always wonder if this show would work better on the BBC.
"I have thought about that a lot recently. Genuinely, I have.
I have thought about it. [The BBC] did offer me a deal a few years ago
“Because do you always want to be in the same place?"
Britain’s Got Talent has been broadcast on ITV since its beginnings in 2007.
Simon’s other show the X Factor also airs on ITV, however its rival began its tenure on BBC One before moving to ITV.
Could the BBC be looking for another competition for its repertoire to join Strictly Come Dancing?
Simon recently spoke about the potential reunion of presenters Ant and Dec.
After being separated for the entirety of the BGT finals, Dec may be teamed up with his colleague once again.
Simon said they “should be reunited on the show next year”.
He added: “He’s not a bad person, he’s not the only person these things happen to. He’s in the public eye. It’s a wake-up call. It’s as simple as that.
“Maybe the pressure was more than I realised. I will support Ant when he comes back.”
Britain’s Got Talent is available on ITV Hub.
