'Tattyfilarious' entertainer Sir Ken Dodd has died aged 90
In the two-hour long special, Sir Ken Dodd opened up on his career as a comedian while his colleagues and close friends revealed their favourite jokes and sketches.
Throughout the documentary, the Liverpudlian shared a number of secrets as he reflected on his life in showbusiness.
He even confessed that he had planned to become a clown before he became a comedian.
“I was going to be the comic that was never going to tell a gag,” Sir Ken commented. “I was going to be a clown.”
He continued: “You have to find a style of your own and I tried lots of styles.
“Then one day, I thought, ‘I’ll just be myself, I’ll just tell it like it is’.”
Those tuning into Ken Dodd My Life: In His Own Words praised Channel 5 for airing the documentary following news of his death.

Sir Ken’s publicist, Robert Holmes, confirmed he had passed away on Sunday 11 March after marrying his partner of 40 years, Anne Jones, on Friday at their house.

He revealed: “They got the registrar and were married in the house.
“He died two days later on Mother’s Day. Anne is obviously very upset. To my mind, he was one of the last music hall greats.”
The comedian passed away at the home where he was born in the Liverpool suburb of Knotty Ash.
His death comes just over a week after he was discharged from hospital following a six-week stay for a chest infection.
