EastEnders spoilers: Kush Kazemi's tragic secret exposed amid horrific Carmel revelation
EASTENDERS exposed a heartbreaking Kush Kazemi backstory during tonight’s episode of the BBC soap.
EastEnders: Carmel reveals why she called social services
Carmel Kazemi (played by Bonnie Langford) revealed that the true reason why she phoned social services to investigate Stacey (Lacey Turner) and Martin Fowler (James Bye) was because Kush (Davood Ghadami) was abused by his own father as a child.
Last night's episode saw Kush horrified to learn that his own mother had reported Stacey to the authorities, but Carmel broke down and revealed that she couldn't let another child get hurt.
It was announced that when Kush was just five or six-years-old, his father Umar left him with bruises on his thighs for "not showering properly" after getting dirty in the back garden.
Frightened by his actions, Carmel made Kush wear long trousers to school the next day to cover the bruises.

Kush then had a flashback and revealed that he could remember the 1991 incident that occurred after Carmel discovered that Umar had been cheating on her.
The emotional scene saw Kush explain how he feared his dad would kill him and barricaded the door to his bedroom with toys.
Carmel cried: "The reason I phoned social services was because I didn't want to make the same mistake twice.
"He decided to take it out on you. He thumped you really hard over and over and I did nothing.

"It was too late, I just let him. When I saw those bruises on Arthur's arms, yeah, I called social services."
Upset that she hadn't protected her son, Carmel added: "It wasn't just for Arthur that I did it. It was for you. I'm sorry. I am so, so sorry."
