Casualty: Has THIS major character been killed off in shock twist?
CASUALTY ended on a dramatic cliffhanger tonight as a major character was feared dead after being hit by a car.
Casualty: Gem Dean accidentally knocked Dr Lily Chao over after drink-driving round a carpark
SHOCK as Lily hit by a car in Casualty
Dr Lily Chao (played by Crystal Yu) was accidentally struck by Gem Dean (Rebecca Ryan) while she was drink-driving around a car park.
Gem appeared unharmed as she exited the car she had crashed before seeing Lily's lifeless and bloodied body lying still on the ground.
Those watching at home rushed to Twitter to ask whether the fan favourite was still alive.
"@MissCrystalYu I love lily more and more each week. please say this isn't the end for her?! #casualty," one viewer prayed.

Another added: "First time I've ever watch #casualty when it's on... Praying Lily's ok as I would miss lovely @MissCrystalYu."
Someone else agreed: "#casualty I can't wait another week to find out what happens to Lily! She has to be ok! @MissCrystalYu @mikeTstevenson."
"If Lily dies I'm going to be so mad #Casualty @MissCrystalYu," a fourth threatened.
Last month a Casualty producer announced that there would be a "stunt" coming up in April where someone got run over.
Casualty: A show insider previously revealed one of the regulars would be bumped off
"This will be very shocking because of who it is, but I can't say anything more," the producer teased.
A show source also revealed there would be a surprise death coming up, telling Digital Spy: “It looks like one of our favourite heroes could be about to meet their maker but Casualty are keeping this shocking storyline close to their chests."
A trailer released of the current series also showed one of the regulars dead on a hospital bed covered in a sheet. Could it be Lily underneath?
Casualty continues next Saturday at 8.10pm on BBC One.
