Danny Dyer could return to EastEnders within weeks
It is thought that Danny has taken a trip to South Africa after several heavy storylines on the BBC soap, including controversially kissing Whitney and the recent Walford bus crash.
An insider has now revealed that Danny's return to the show will be in "a matter of weeks and not months".
Discussing these reports on This Morning, Sharon Marshall also gave her insight on recent allegations which detail Danny's behaviour at the National Television Awards, saying they were false.
"At the NTAs, he wasn't drunk. I know two people who were stood next to him in the video and I said, 'Were they drunk?' and they said, 'No, he was just asking for a cab'," Sharon stated.
News broke earlier this month that Danny would take a short break from EastEnders
Reports emerged last week of Danny's behaviour at the NTAs, which Sharon Marshall has denied
I've seen him, he is such a lovely team player
She continued: "Nobody I know saw [the alleged argument at the end of the night] and one of the big things I want to say is people are saying he has been unprofessional on set and that's not true. I've seen him, he is such a lovely team player."
Danny, who plays Mick Carter in the soap, has not commented on his break from the show, remaining silent on social media.
However, EastEnders bosses have confirmed that it was Danny's decision and not theirs, telling Express.co.uk: "Danny is on a short break from EastEnders. This was not enforced by bosses, nor has he quit the show."
The actor is reportedly taking a break in South Africa at the moment
Mick will get closer to Whitney in this week's EastEnders
With the show being filmed so far in advance, Mick will be sticking around for a bit longer anyway.
Viewers will see him and Whitney (Shona McGarty) grow closer together after his son, Lee (Danny Boy Hatchard), departed last week.
EastEnders continues tonight at 7:30pm on BBC One.
