The presenter, 56, was left holding the fort as Eamonn was nowhere to be seen after the opening titles rolled.
“I’ve lost my husband!” she declared, as his mic was briefly turned up and he could be heard speaking to someone out of shot.
“I can hear him now, I can hear him in my ear,” Ruth laughed, as she introduced the programme.
After airing a tribute montage of the late Andrew Sachs - who passed away yesterday at the age of 86 - Eamonn could be seen in position without explanation.

The couple were soon bickering just moments later during a debate on whether children should be allowed to watch their mothers give birth.
Eamonn called childbirth a “medical procedure” and slammed the idea, as well as the notion of home births.
“Women have a choice,” Ruth snapped. “You don’t have to make that decision.”
Writing on Twitter, one viewer observed: “Bit of old age sexism on #thismorning, Eamonn Holmes you sexist w****r.”

“Ruth Langsford being very restrained on #ThisMorning just then. Looked like she wanted to bludgeon Eamonn with a blunt object!” said someone else.
A third pointed out: “Giving birth is not a medical procedure Eamonn #thismorning.”
This Morning airs weekdays at 10:30am on ITV.
