Poldark delivers a passionate speech during his trial
When she struggles to get back to shore after going out fishing, the heartthrob rushed to save her from death.
But while filming the dramatic scenes at Nampara Cove in Cornwall, the actor faced danger himself.
Recalling an incident, which took place when shooting the rescue, Aidan revealed: "There's nothing like the Cornish sea at the height of winter for putting you in your place.
"We were filming me lifting Demelza out of a boat in the actual sea when this huge wave picked up the boat and slammed it into my head."

He continued, telling Radio Times: "I dropped her in the water – not very Ross Poldark.
"And nobody was coming to see if I'm okay. I was the man injured… But one of the underwater cameramen got cracked as well and he was concussed."
While the actor survived the dramatic ordeal, he admitted: "These waves, you wouldn't think there's anything to them. But once you get out there you're at the mercy of Mother Nature and she doesn't care how well the previous season rated."
Aidan is back on set in Cornwall filming the third series of Poldark, and new pictures suggest there's a lot more drama to come.
