EastEnders: Continuity announcer leaves viewers puzzled with 'dirty clothes' talk
THE BBC continuity announcer who introduced EastEnders left viewers puzzled tonight with bizarre chat about dirty laundry.
BBC announcer sounds like he's getting undressed
Fans were left wondering what was happening - and if he had been delivering the intro totally naked.
The narrator said: "But now on BBC One... sorry, let me just throw these dirty clothes on the floor."
Writing on Twitter, one person said: "They can't afford the GBBO at BBC never mind get their clothes cleaned."
"Hang on why the f*** did the broadcaster say he was going to throw some dirty clothes on the floor before EastEnders?" wrote another.
Dirty laundry was the centre of pre-show talk on EastEnders
That explains it: Martin was seen handling dirty clothes
The comment was soon perfectly explained: the first scene of the soap showed Martin Fowler picking up dirty clothes.
"Omg I love it when the voice over guy makes reference to the first scene. It's the little things," one fan remarked online.
It was a rare moment of light-hearted fun for the flagship BBC show, which has lost a raft of key cast members over recent weeks.
A huge number of regular characters will soon be making exits, with the most recent addition to the list being Riley Carter Millington.
The announcement often segues into the first episode
The actor, who plays Kyle, said in a statement: "When I landed a six-month contract at EastEnders it was a dream come true. For that to be extended to a year was something I never expected.
"As the time comes for Kyle to depart Walford I am looking forward to taking on new roles and who knows, Kyle may find his way back to Walford one day."
EastEnders continues tomorrow at 8pm on BBC One.
