Susanna Reid looks hopeful as Piers Morgan addresses petition for him to be FIRED from GMB
PIERS MORGAN has laughed off a Good Morning Britain viewer's petition calling for him to be sacked.
GMB - Viewer starts petition to have Piers Morgan sacked
At the top of today's programme the broadcaster, 51, told co-stars Susanna Reid and Charlotte Hawkins that a Surrey-based woman had launched the online campaign, which left Susanna looking more than a little amused.
"Surely not," Charlotte said half-convincingly.
Piers explained: "She's so fed up with seeing me on television every day and she's particularly annoyed by the way I constantly belittle my co-workers - her phrase, not mine.
"[She said] 'what tipped me over the edge was him saying misogynistic things to Susanna Reid. He was saying things like 'she's just a woman' as if she's stupid. How can he say that on television?'"

"Do you think I'm stupid?" Susanna asked.
"I do not think you're stupid. I think you're highly intelligent," Piers clarified.
Charlotte added: "Just out of interest, how many people have signed it?"
"It was 46 as of last night; it's not the biggest petition," Piers said, to loud laughter from the crew.
"The good news is I am going. The bad news is I am coming back and I'll then be even more annoying towards you [petition founder] and everyone who signs it."
How high will the petition go?
Within two hours, the petition had rocketed up to nearly 500 signatures, with the description explaining: "Piers Morgan highlights the sexist and misogynistic battle that women have to face every day.
"For a lighthearted TV programme, his constant belittling of his female co-workers is EXTREMELY uncomfortable to watch."
Good Morning Britain airs on weekdays at 6am on ITV.
