Stranger Things: Producers want to make 'several more seasons' of new Netflix drama
FOLLOWING its debut on Netflix earlier this month, fans have been desperate to find out if Stranger Things will return for a second season.
The show, which stars Winona Ryder as Joyce Byers, follows a mother's search to find her missing son Will while stumbling upon a secret government investigation.
The series has been the subject of much speculation over the past week regarding its future on the streaming service.
Now producers have hinted that the show will not just return for a second outing but they are "definitely hopeful to go several more seasons".
Speaking about what is next for Stranger Things, executive producer Shane Levy teased: "The plan is to continue with this set of characters while introducing a few critical key new ones next season.

"So I'll just say that a lot of the big mysteries get answered at the end of season one, but we are very much kind of unearthing new problems and questions that merit future stories and future investigation in the most enjoyable way. We are in love with our cast and our characters."
He added to Film: "Things end up being resolved to some extent at the end of season one, but not entirely.
"And that's why we're so hopeful we get another few seasons to live with these people a little longer."

Shane's comments come after directors The Duffer Brothers, revealed they have "had those initial discussions" about a second season.
"We leave these dangling threads at the end," Ross told Variety. "If people respond to this show and we get to continue this story - we had those initial conversations of where we might go with it."
Stranger Things is available on Netflix now.
