The X Factor 2016: Simon Cowell 'considers' Britain’s Got Talent judges as replacements
SIMON COWELL has admitted that he thought about asking Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams to join The X Factor this year.
Simon Cowell considered BGT stars for The X Factor
The TV mogul said the trio could have worked well on the ITV singing contest if their "unbearable" egos didn't get in the way.
The 56-year-old claimed the current BGT line-up was the best it'll ever be, ahead of the launch of the 10th run this weekend.
Speaking to Radio Times, Simon commented: "I’ve got to admit it — I think the four of us on the panel is about as good as we’re ever going to get."
The father-of-one continued: "We actually even considered transferring them all on to X Factor at one point, but their egos, if I ever suggested it, would be unbearable!
Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams work well on the ITV show, the mogul said
"There have been times with X Factor — now I’ve had the chance to rethink what happened last year and the years before — where we had that chemistry and lost it by trying to change too much."
Simon went on to reveal that originally singer Alesha had been eyed up for a role on The X Factor.
He added: "Alesha was supposed to be on X Factor but it didn't work out… She had what we were missing [on BGT], real expertise with the dances."
Cheryl and Nick Grimshaw will not be returning this year

Bookmakers William Hill has now said Simon and Rita Ora are the most likely to return at 1/20 and 1/4 respectively, while Sharon Osbourne and Louis Tomlinson look set to complete the panel.
