Jekyll and Hyde axed by ITV after just one series following hundreds of complaints
"SCARY" ITV remake Jekyll and Hyde has been cancelled and won't be returning for a second series.
ITV has axed Jekyll and Hyde
The controversial drama, which launched back in October, starred Tom Bateman, Richard E Grant and Natalie Gumede.
Creator Charlie Higson said the show had "some great stories lined up" for the next season, before describing the broadcaster's decision to axe it as a "sad day".
Jekyll and Hyde had a rocky start after viewers complained that it was too frightening to be shown pre-watershed, after originally airing at 6.30pm.
The period programme reportedly had more than 800 complaints due to its depictions of violence and disturbing scenes in the opening episode.

The instalment showed a half-human half-dog called the Harbinger - the physical transformation of Jekyll into Hyde - a double murder, a bar fight and another punch-up in an alleyway.
Another episode was also rescheduled after the Paris attacks, because it was thought to have included a gunfight.
Writer Charlie took to Twitter last night to break the news: "Sad day today as ITV announce they don’t want any more #JekyllandHyde… Ah well, I tried. It was a grand adventure while it lasted."
