Charlie Brooker compares Black Mirror to THAT David Cameron pig rumour in 2015 Wipe
CHARLIE BROOKER’S 2015 WIPE has been the night’s most popular programme on social media, with the satirist poking constant fun at allegations made about David Cameron and a pig earlier this year.
2015 Wipe showed Charlie Brooker at his satirical best
The broadcaster’s jokes made the hashtag #2015Wipe the country’s top trending topic, and in one segment he explored the similarities between the Prime Minister’s controversy and an episode of his own show, Black Mirror.
"To be honest, the whole thing left me particularly feeling a bit weirded out," the 44-year-old explained.
"You see, a few years ago, I wrote a drama for Channel 4 in which a fictional Prime Minister was blackmailed into having sex with a pig. And lots of the things in that show played out much the same as they were now.
"There were people in newsrooms bemoaning the fact they couldn’t run the story, there were people making wisecracks on Twitter, even using some of the same hashtags.

"The vindictive stunt impacted cruelly on the people at the centre, and the whole thing played out as a kind of national sport bringing the nation to a standstill."
He went on: “At the end of Black Mirror, the PM’s reputation survives intact. And a few months on, David Cameron doesn’t seem to have suffered too much from his piggy scrape… although the mental image is still too amusing for some of his opponents to drop.”
“Charlie Brooker is basically confessing that he can see the future,” one viewer quipped on Twitter as the one-off episode aired.
Commenting on the music choice accompanying the scene, another posted: “Perfect.. "I started a Joke" playing behind the PigGate story on #2015Wipe Nicely done @charltonbrooker #BlackMirror”.

A third wrote: "@charltonbrooker bit of selfless promotion of your very own black mirror there on #2015Wipe. Oh go on then, I'll watch it again."
The show tonight was a one-off edition of Brooker’s hugely popular Newswipe, which he promised will be back at some point in 2016.
