Pick of the day: No Sex Please, We're Japanese
No Sex Please We're Japanese airs tonight at 9pm on BBC2.
In a world where people panic about the rising global population, Japan could see its population shrink by a third in just 40 years. One reason is the Otaku culture: a world of computer games and cartoons in which Japanese men have withdrawn from the whole dating game. Presenter Anita Rani (left) encounters two men in their late thirties who has ve in-depth relationships with virtual girlfriends rather than the real thing. She also meets the women who struggle to work and have children in a society still dominated by traditional gender roles. Added to this, Japan has the oldest population in the world. Too few young people to pay tax and too many older individuals needing support has led to a debt problem worse than that of Greece.
