'Masterpiece' drama airs final ever episode – and fans are devastated
It was announced just hours before finale that the series has been cancelled.

Fans are absolutely devastated following news that a hit series has been cancelled after three seasons. Premiering in 2022, Tell Me Lies quickly dragged viewers into the toxic world of a group of students at Baird College in upstate New York. The series centres on the twisted romance between Lucy Albright (Grace Van Patten) and Stephen DeMarco (Jackson White). Spanning eight years, the series explores their tumultuous yet intoxicating relationship through dual timelines set in 2008 and 2015, gradually revealing how their infatuation impacts those closest to them.
"Although their relationship begins like any typical campus romance, they quickly fall into an addictive entanglement that will permanently alter not only their lives but the lives of everyone around them," the official synopsis reads. Based on Carola Lovering's 2018 best-selling novel of the same name, the series was brought to life by creator and executive producer Meaghan Oppenheimer.

Tell Me Lies soared to new heights following the release of its third season in early January. With a new episode dropping each week, uncertainty lingered over whether it would be renewed for a fourth season. However, just hours before the season three finale landed on Disney+ today (February 17), Oppenheimer announced that the series would be coming to an end.
Taking to Instagram, she wrote: "After three amazing seasons of Tell Me Lies, tonight’s episode will be the series finale. This was always the ending my writing team and I had in mind, and we are insanely proud of it.
"Your incredible response to this season inspired us to explore whether there was another organic way to continue the story, but ultimately we felt it had reached its natural conclusion. My main goal has always been to protect the quality of the show and give you the best experience I can give you."
Fans were absolutely devastated by the announcement, with many expressing their sadness and frustration online.

"I literally just discovered this show 2 weeks ago.. and I’m obsessed and I want more!! How is it already the end?! That’s ridiculous," one commented as a second agreed: "Respectfully you absolutely are not going to please your fans by wrapping up YEARS in a 40 min episode.
"We’ve had a lot of wasted time this season. There’s way too many loose ends that need to be tied up in a way that makes sense and is not rushed. If this is the series finale, I feel like at the very least this could have been 2 hours long. Yikes."
Another shared: "Can’t wait to see how it’s going to end, but ngl, I am going to miss the show."
The season finale sparked mixed reviews, with one posting: "How do I process this ending of Tell Me Lies…. I simply have been sitting in silence since it ended."
Another described the ending as "perfect", however, someone else branded it "easily the worst episode".
An additional fan declared: "Tell Me Lies is a masterpiece!!! Like the season finale has me in shock! 1000/10!!!!"
