GB News faced backlash from viewers and was accused of inciting "fear" after declaring that Storm Eowyn could pose a "danger to life."

Presenter Ellie Costello stated: "'Danger to life' is the warning meteorologists as Britain braces for strong winds, rain and snow from Storm Eowyn, which is set to hit the country today with gusts of up to 90mph."

Her co-star Stephen Dixon continued: "There are even warnings of possible tornadoes, believe it or not, in the south of England today.

As Ellie added: "The Met Office also issued amber and yellow warnings for wind with people advised to watch for flying debris that could be a risk to their lives and keep the dogs on a lead as well."

However, viewers were unimpressed with the dramatic warning and took to social media with complaints as one posted: "Oh do f*** off. Sick of your fear porn. It is January, in the UK. It's winter."

Another penned: "It’ll be a bit windy; take care with your brolly."

A third viewer fumed, "Oh my god, how much more tax do I have to pay to make this stop?"

The presenters were then accused of airing "More fear porn," as another fed-up viewer commented: "Yawn."

Stephen and Ellie introduced weather journalist Nathan Rao, who said: “It’s the first storm of the year, the fifth storm of the season, Storm Eowyn and yes, you are right, this is going to be a big one.

He continued: "Storm gusts of up to 90mph winds, I wouldn’t be surprised if we didn’t see higher than that,” as he warned: “This is a very, very powerful storm that is going to sweep in tomorrow and the whole of the country is under Met Office warnings for wind.

“The north of the country, the northwest and the northeast just down to the southern point of Scotland is under an amber warning.

“There is also heavy rain with this storm and the risk of snow in the north, and Stephen, yes, as you mentioned, I have also seen tornadoes in the forecast.

"This isn't unusual as you may think, in fact, the UK has more tornadoes per square kilometre than anywhere else in the world. We just don't see them," Nathan added.
