Stephen Mulhern halted the start of today's episode of Deal or No Deal on ITV as he tried to help a contestant. Paisley, a midwife, had her chance to beat the banker in the popular game of luck.

However, the player, who was sporting a vibrant pink outfit, was in floods of tears as her name was called out. When Paisley was revealed as the player of the episode, her mouth dropped open in shock.

Making her way to the podium, with box number 15 in hand, she put her hands to her mouth as she couldn't believe her luck. Stephen said: "Well I think you can tell, nobody knows. She's shocked!"

Getting closer to Stephen, she began to cry as the host exclaimed: "Oh, don't get upset! Are you alright?"

Putting her box down on the table, the contestant apologised as she said: "Oh, I'm sorry". Stephen consoled her with a hug as he paused the show to check that she was ok.

Double checking that the player was alright, he asked: "Are they happy tears?" She confirmed: "Yeah, they're happy tears."

As Paisley began to compose herself, Stephen said: "That's ok, have a second." Explaining what was wrong, the player said: "It's just very overwhelming. I'm not a very lucky person, so I've been waiting a long time but now it's my turn."

The camera panned to show some of the other box holders wiping away their tears in the emotional moment. Stephen double checked that Paisley was feeling ok before continuing the ITV game.

The game got off to a good start with 1p being opened in the early boxes and a few more blues followed. However, it didn't take long before the grand prize of £100,000 was taken out of play too.

However Paisley, who hoped to take her mum and dad on a cruise with the winnings, didn't let it deter her as she played on. With just five boxes remaining - 10p, 50p, £10, £50,000 and £75,000 - the banker made an offer of £16,750.

The player said that she was "ready for the question" as Stephen asked her if it was a Deal or No Deal. She replied: "Thank you very much Mr Banker... because I'm going to be rich! Deal!"

It turned out that she had made the right choice as they played on revealing the higher value boxes in the next plays, meaning that Paisley had beat the banker.

It was the end of a very emotional game as players and audience members both wiped away tears of joy.
