Good Morning Britain viewers were treated to a fresh face leading Wednesday's show.

Typically, Susanna Reid is joined by either Ed Balls or Richard Madeley at the start of the week on the ITV morning show. But in a surprising twist, finance guru Martin Lewis took centre stage in the latest episode.

Kicking off the broadcast, Susanna greeted: "Martin, it's wonderful to have you back in the studio!"

With a grin, Martin quipped: "It's wallet Wednesday."

Susanna then explained to the audience that Martin was there for a crucial segment, aimed at assisting viewers with their spiralling energy bills, reports the Mirror.

She pointed out that Martin had only been on the programme a fortnight ago, yet since then, the energy price cap has soared by 10%.

Responding to the situation, Martin said: "I wasn't quite sure we'd be doing this but there's a lot that's changed."

Throughout the show, Martin offered real-time advice to three viewers who joined them in the studio, all grappling with whether to fix their energy tariffs or switch providers in light of the 10% hike in the energy price cap.

After some quick calculations and a visit to a comparison website, several viewers found ways to significantly reduce their energy expenses.

In a heartfelt exchange, Susanna asked one guest what had held her back from addressing her energy concerns before coming on the show.

The guest confided: "Honestly? I am a busy mum of two. I work and if we've survived the day the thought then of going onto my energy site and finding a password that I've forgotten it all just feels like too much."

Martin swiftly intervened, curious about the actual time it took her to handle her energy bill, to which she laughed and admitted: "I have to say, I'm embarrassed at how quick it was. It was less than three minutes for me to get a list of comparisons."

Viewers were quick to express their delight at Martin's return to the show with Susanna.
