Reacher could soon be joined by a spin-off series on Amazon Prime Video, starring a fan-favourite character who has already appeared in both seasons so far.

Starring Alan Ritchson and based on the bestselling books by Lee Child, the crime drama follows ex-military police major Jack Reacher who gets caught up in various cases around the United States.

The first two outings were a hit for the streamer and Alan previously confirmed filming for a third season was underway back in December 2023.

With millions of fans already eager to tune in for more, it’s now been reported that Reacher’s friend Frances Neagley (played by Maria Sten) could head up her own spin-off.

Maria has already helped out during Reacher’s first two missions on the streamer, having been introduced to the iconic drifter’s former teammate in the Army’s 110th Special Investigations Unit.

A corporate security professional, Frances has quickly become a fan-favourite character and is confirmed to be making an appearance in season three, despite being absent from this instalment’s source material, the 2003 novel Persuader.

Deadline reports Prime Video is fast-tracking the offshoot with Maria set to star, though the streamer hasn’t officially commented yet.

Frances is certainly one of the most compelling characters in Reacher’s roster of friends and foes, not only because of her history with the elusive ex-MP.

She also demonstrates haptephobia, an intense fear of physical contact, throughout the series, which leads to its fair share of challenges.

However, she managed to briefly overcome this fear last season when she comforted someone who threw themselves in front of gunfire to protect a young girl.

“It’s a moment where she knows this person is going to leave this Earth,” she told TVLine close to season two’s release. “And in this moment, he needs connection.

“When she sees this man give up his life to save this child, there’s a moment where she feels the need to give whatever he needs, in this moment of closeness,” she continued.

“Also, I think Neagley doesn’t ever truly feel safe, which is why she doesn’t let people close.

“So, in this moment she feels safe because she sees [the dying character] in a real, vulnerable way.”

In addition to Alan and Maria, season three has added Anthony Michael Hall as corrupt businessman Zachary Beck and Sonya Cassidy as DEA Agent Susan Duffy.

Plus, Brian Tee is on board as the season’s villain Quinn, who has a mysterious connection to Reacher’s past.

Reacher season 3 will premiere in early 2025 on Prime Video.
