Emmerdale stars rocked by bombshell as return 'sealed' for killer

Emmerdale spoilers hint at potential trouble for a returning character on the popular ITV soap.

Next week, Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) and Jimmy King (Nick Miles) receive some distressing news about their daughter, Angelica (Rebecca Bakes). The couple are left feeling anxious for their teenage daughter when it's revealed she's been involved in a fight.

Last year, Angelica was sent to a secure children's home for causing the death of Heath Hope (Sebastain Dowling) and later lying about it. The 15-year-old was handed a custodial sentence and sentenced to eight months in the facility.

She hasn't appeared on screen since bidding an emotional farewell to her family in March, however, Rebecca has teased that her character could return to the show within the next few months.

Despite her pending release, Nicola and Jimmy are set to endure several stressful months following the news of Angelica's altercation at the home.

Scenes that aired in the new year saw Angel, Heath and his twin sister Cathy (Gabrielle Dowling) involved in a car accident after they stole Wendy Posner's (Susan Cookson) car. Heartbreakingly, Heath died in the accident, with Cathy getting the blame for her brother's death after Angelica lied about being behind the wheel.

However, scenes in March showed Angel facing time as she admitted to being the one driving at the time of the crash. While Angelica hasn’t appeared on screen since her exit, the soap has mentioned that the youngster is struggling with her new surroundings.

Rebecca, who portrayed Angelica from 2009 until her exit earlier this year, confirmed her character will return to the soap soon.

She told Express.co.uk and other press, at the Radio Times Soap Awards: "It should be at the end of September, so in a few months maybe! I don't really know because we haven't started filming anything yet."

She added: "Before we even started filming it, we were told that the driver would be me and they kept us updated. It was really exciting because I'd never previously done anything as big."

Quizzed on what path Angelica may take upon her return, the actress added: "I don't know, it could go in the direction of her being a rebel or going a bit downhill but I don't really know yet!"

Rebecca also touched on how she felt about the departure of her co-star Sebastian, who made his first appearance as Heath in 2007.

The two young stars had worked together for years before he was written out of the soap. Rebecca said: "It was also sad because I'd known Sebastian for years. We didn't really film much, but when we were little we filmed together quite a lot. I've missed him when we're filming."
