Outlander fans agree casting is ‘uncanny’ as first look at Blood of My Blood unveiled

Sam Heughan reveals the souvenir he'll take from Outlander set

Outlander fans all agree the casting is spot on for Starz’ upcoming prequel series.

Blood of My Blood is expected to air in 2025 and reveal the origin stories of the parents of Jamie (played by Sam Heughan) and Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe).

Set across two time periods, WWI and 18th Century Scotland, fans will discover how the two heroes were born before the fateful day Claire leaped through time.

Harriet Slater leads the drama as Ellen MacKenzie, while Jamie Roy portrays Jamie’s father Brian Fraser.

Meanwhile, in early 20th Century England, Hermione Corfield portrays Claire’s mother Julia Moriston and Jeremy Irvine will play her father Henry Beauchamp.

A sizzling selection of promotional photos of the two pairings were released this week, sending eagerly awaiting Outlander fans into a frenzy.

The show’s official Instagram page captioned the post: “STOP WHAT YOU’RE DOING!

“First photos from Outlander: #BloodOfMyBlood are here and THEY. ARE. EVERYTHING.”

Delighted fans took to the comments to share their appreciation for the new cast, and many of them had the same observation.

“They look perfect,” one Outlander enthusiast replied. “Like they actually could be their parents. I love especially how Brian and Ellen turned out.”

“The casting department for Outlander and BOB needs a raise,” another said.

A third added: “Well dang, Ellen DOES look just like Brianna!”

“Great casting!” a fourth fan exclaimed. “The resemblance to their characters is striking!”

And a final viewer commented: “Perfect casting for Jamie and Claire’s parents!!!”

Blood of My Blood hasn’t been given an official release date just yet, but, hopefully, this first look means fans will be getting more information about the prequel soon.

In the meantime, they also have the second half of Outlander’s seventh season to look forward to, which will be arriving in November.

Starz also dropped fresh stills of the coming episodes on the same day, including new looks at Claire, Jamie, Roger MacKenzie (Richard Rankin), Brianna Fraser (Sophie Skelton) and Young Ian (John Bell).

Outlander season 7, part 2 premieres Friday, November 22 on Starz.
